Peppermint is an aromatic perennial plant. It is a hybrid mint, a cross between water mint and Spearmint indigenous to Europe and the Middle East. It belongs to the family Lamiaceae and grows throughout North America, Asia, and Europe. Peppermint was first cultivated in England. In the British herbal pharmacopeia, it is described as a remedy for intestinal colic, gas, cold, morning sickness, and menstruation pain. The plant is cultivated for its oil. The Latin name of this oil is Mentha Piperita which belongs to the Labiatae family and commonly grows 2-3 feet long, having violet in color flowers and leaves dark growing color.

It is extracted from the Natural plant of Peppermint (Mentha piperita) through the method of steam distillation. The Peppermint plant (Mentha piperita) is a hybrid obtained from spearmint (M. Spicata) and watermint (M. Aquatica). Peppermint oil is commonly used in foods and beverages as a flavor, formulation of shampoo, conditioners, and cosmetics as well as a good fragrance in soap industries.
